It's easy to settle into bad habits during the festive season; ones that can last just a little too long. We know it's true. That's why people always commit to getting fit again in January.
We get that it's nice to indulge once in a while... but we also know that if we want to beat our personal best, we've got to get off the sofa and back on the right path. Here are a few ways to do just that.
1) Work out early
One of the toughest parts of keeping fit over the Christmas period is the feeling that you're missing out on the festivities. To fix that problem, we like getting up an hour or two early. By getting your training out of the way in the morning, when your family and friends are snoozing, you'll be ready to go before the day's even started. Plus, it's more beneficial to your metabolism, and will have you feeling totally deserving of those Christmas leftovers.
If you’re proactive, you focus on preparing. If you’re reactive, you end up focusing on repairing.

2) Play competitively
Nothing gets people up and training like arranging a match or entering a tournament or other challenging event. It's usually sort of easy to say yes to those extra mince pies; you'll have to train that little bit harder later on, sure; that's not a problem for now. But with your reputation is at stake, do you really want to take that risk? We've said it before, but you are your toughest opponent. It just so happens that the idea of other opponents is a pretty good way of beating the lounging Christmas version of yourself. So challenge yourself - and your opponent - to stay at the top of your game by getting competitive over the holidays.
It is nice to have valid competition; it pushes you to do better.

3) Don't let your gear put you off
At PlayBrave, we believe layering up is an easy and effective way to perform at your best in any weather condition. Just a few light but hardworking materials can make all the difference in staying warm without losing out on mobility and flexibility. Our Italian microfleece, for example, is made using a comfortable and performance-enhancing blend of polyester - which allows for freedom of movement, warmth, and versatility.
We really can't recommend layering enough. If you want to try it out yourself, take a look at our microfleece collections. Try here for women, and here for men.
